The infamous iPod shuffle blog.
As a word of warning, asking me to put my iPod on shuffle is like throwing a handful of marble across a dance floor. Who knows where each one will land. Who knows how many people will be injured along the way. And who knows how many of those marbles you will actually find again.
But all that aside… Let’s begin.
1. “Soulmate” by Natasha Bedingfield
Love is the greatest treasure we have in life. I believe everyone deserves to feel some kind of love in their life. Sometimes that love doesn’t always come easy or how we expect it to, but it’s out there. I’m blessed that “Mr. Lovable” is already in my life and knows how to love me without being told.
2. “Beautiful” by Akon and Colby O’Donis
Isn’t it obvious what this song says about me?!
3. “You’d Be So Easy to Love” by Frank Sinatra
Frank Sinatra and I go way back. I’ve adored this man since I was a kid. He’s just so “easy to love.” His music is home to me.
4. “Something About Us” by Daft Punk
I truly believe that my boyfriend and I were bound to one another, even before we met, through our love for Daft Punk. I guess it’s just “something about us.”
5. “Funny Honey” from the musical Chicago
Chicago was one of my favorite dates that my boyfriend took me on when we first met years ago. It was being shown at the Hippodrome in Waco. I remember that day like it was yesterday. I told him that I just wanted to spend an evening with him because we had been so busy. Within the next few hours, he had tickets, dinner reservations, a spotless car and had himself all dressed up. He simply told me that he would pick me up at a certain time. It was a complete and beautiful surprise. I loved every minute of it.
6. “Wonderful Maker” by Jeremy Camp
I’ll never forget helping Jeremy Camp set up when he was performing at my church camp one summer. A phenomenal man. This song is the epitome of what our Lord and Savior is. To think that the creator of the heavens and the earth would cast his gracious and undying love upon us. He truly is a wonderful maker with the heart of a Father.
7. “Toys (Felguk Mix)” by Perplex
I love dance music. Another love I share with my man.
8. “Animal” by Neon Trees
I had the pleasure of living with a wonderful girl the year after I graduated college. We knew each other, but in that year I believe we became sisters. She is someone that I admire and respect, and also someone I confide in. She knows everything about me and still offers compassion. I can’t count all the times we belted this song out. Our poor neighbors.
9. “Skating” by Vince Guaraldi Trio, from A Charlie Brown Christmas
I could never be in a bad mood listening to this entire album. It always makes me think of being home with loved ones, next to a fire with snow falling outside. And who could forget all those Peanuts kids skating on a frozen pond. Oh, and Snoopy dragging Linus around by his blanket… I told you, I love those little guys.
10. “Kiss Me in the Dark” by Randy Rogers Band
This is the one country song that I will belt out if ever given the chance, no matter where I am.
